String Theory, featuring Jay Umble on guitar, Andy Alonso on bass and Dave Santana on drums is one of central Pennsylvania’s most dynamic and exciting trios whose music includes electric originals, fusion and straight-ahead .

The audience consists of all ages and interests in the genre. Listeners have mentioned the music of Mike Stern, Pat Metheny, Weather Report, Jaco Pastorius and John Scofield when describing the trio’s concept.

Guitarist, Jay Umble is the band’s writer. His compositional approach brings a strong, modern harmonic sensibility to the group. His improvisational concept is highly linear, offering a fusionistic groundwork for the band.

Bassist, Andy Alonso offers an eclectic approach with deep roots in jazz, rhythm & blues and funk. He also brings a highly evolved improvisational aspect to String Theory.

Drummer, Dave Santana rounds out the trio with strong roots in fusion, rock, latin and jazz providing versatility for the band. As the band’s “rhythmic engine”, his all inclusive genre awareness consistently propels the band into uncharted territory.
